As the title says, I'm looking to upgrade my gaming PC's CPU, and I'm currently running an Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz. Ideally.....I'd like to keep the CPU price under $150 (USD)......
I have heard one person recommend the I3 sandy bridge processor, but I have read countless reviews on the AMD Phenom II Quad Core line (higher clock speed line, etc.). My new HP laptop came with an AMD Phenom II Quad Core rated at 1.7 GHz and it itself is quite a good processor.
Throw me your ideas!
NOTE:
The dilemma here is that I have a crappy Intel mobo, thus they totally lock bios altering options, with regards to the CPU clock speeds. I haven't really seen anything online on how to circumvent this. So yeah, in fact, I was going to upgrade all 3 of CPU, RAM, and MOBO here. My GPU is awesome, and brand new, just purchased (Superclocked GTX 560 Ti), I have a relatively new 700W OCZ Modular PSU and my two HD's are alright as well, optical drive is fine and functional.
Thus, looking ULTIMATELY at upgrading 3 things: CPU, RAM, MOBO.....
So any more thoughts based on that? I was looking at spending well UNDER $300 ideally on that overall upgrade.
Does anyone on here recommend I wait until the newegg black friday online deals to buy a bunch of components???!!
