Upgrading cpu in Gateway GT4016?

Does anyone here know if it would be possible for me to go from a Amd Athlon 60 3700+ (939) to a AMD Opteron 180 Denmark 2.4GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 110W Dual-Core Processor - OEM?

I just installed vista ultimate. and im sick of seeing the cpu usage clock maxed out. i did a good bit of research and have found nothing.

There isn't much out there in terms of 939 CPU's. I know the Athlon 64 X2 is not the greatest dual-core around, but I think the Opteron may work a little better for you.

There should be no real problem since they're the same socket.

Would need to know what motherboard is in that machine to really determine or you would have to call gateway to find out.
 
Looks like its time for a custom build my friend. If you need to get a different CPU in a retail computer. You may as well go ahead and build something new
 
well..

ive decided to just replace it with a 4000+ i can get one cheap, i dont have the money for a custom right now. but thanks for all the help fellas.
