Upgrading CPU - Please Help

I know my system is probably getting obsolete and I should get the whole thing replaced soon, but since I'm low on cash, I can only afford to upgrade the CPU. But I'm not quite sure as to which CPU my mobo supports as I never upgrade/replace a CPU before. My current CPU is a 524 Pentium4 HT and my mobo is
Northbridge: ATI RC410
Southbridge: ULI M1573

and on the mobo manual it said
CPU
Socket Type : Intel Socket T
Supports Intel Pentium D FSB 800MHZ
Supports Intel Pentium 4 Prescott 775 / FSB 533/800MHz
Supports Intel Celeron Prescott 775 / FSB 533MHz
Pentium 4 2.66GHz ~3.8GHz speed
Celeron D2.80GHz ~ 3.06GHz
L2 Cache varies with CPU from 1MB to 2MB (for 6xx series CPU)

So what I want to know is, what are some of the best CPUs that my mobo can support?

Thanks in advance.

silly question, but what cpu is in the board now, that will determine what kinda bang for buck your expecting, but as it looks like right now, might be more worth your time and money to just pull the board, cpu and ram and go for a slightly more expensive upgrade, but thats my thoughts on it, unless you can get the cpu for like 20-40 bucks on ebay i would not bother trying to do a upgrade on a pentium 4

I wouldn't waste my money upgrading the cpu on this machine as its quite old and not worth it. You could upgrade to a pentium D but they ran quite hot, hotter than the P4's. Save your money for a motherboard, memory, cpu upgrade.

My dad runs a pentium D dual-core at 3.2ghz stock clock and a copper zalman cooler, quite fast if your not going to game.

I'd get *this*(click on it) if you could find it, btw everything you listed is EOL, I just checked. Its 3.4ghz dual core pentium d, it should run cooler seeing that it is the 95w version and not the 125w version. I'm assuming you have a PLGA775 socket motherboard.
