Hi there

Iv got a i3 3.1 Ghz cpu, and i want to upgrade to a i5 2500k. Iv got a H67MA USB3 B3 Gigabyte Motherboard. Would i be able to Upgrade?

yes, but it would be pointless with a H67 motherboard, as it dis allows the OCing of the processor. if you dont plan to change motherboards, just get a non K 2500.

What are you upgrading for? What are your full systems specs, psu, gpu, gaming resolution if that is applicable? I would wait for ivy bridge at this point.

i would wait for ivy too, but if you must get an i5 get the 2500k so you will be able to overclock it, but you will still get the turbo out of any cpu

Johnny, Intel says you can not overclock via the multiplier (even on an unlocked CPU) on the H67.
TO OC well, you will need a P67 or Z68 chipset.

yeah, you can still hit the fsb, that's how i do it, i get my pentium dual core e2210 2.2ghz with locked multiplier and bad bios (620i i think) up to 2.5ghz using the fsb in my nvidia system tools. you just can't get the speed as high this way.

yea, but why pay the extra for the K version if your blocked to FSB changes. He could get a 2500 non K and have the same thing in use terms.
