Upgrading CPU?

I have an old computer that I want to use for just playing DVDs and mp3's. The requirements on the internal DVD player says it needs at least a Pentium 3 processor and it currently has a Pentium processor. I know how to take out the processor chip, my problem is that I don't know the socket number of it.

The system is an old gateway that is running Win98
 
You cant put a P3 chip in a P1 motherboard if thats what your implying. You would most likely need a new motherboard and CPU.
 
you would need a new mobo which would probably mean you would have to buy new memory because your pc probably contains sdram and modern mobos use ddr on 184 pin
