Upgrading Drivers, I don't know how?

First off I am sorry, I have multiple posts up that need answers, (different topics), and I feel a little like I am hogging the forum or something... But my computer has been acting a little weird lately, and I want to get some things done.

Lately some of my games have been crashing and I heard one of the reasons could be that my vid card drivers are out of date. The only problem is I dont know how to upgrade them... I have a bunch of questions :( sorry.

1. How do I check which files are the actual drivers? How do I check which version(s) I have? I have an ATI X700, so I think the driver is catalyst?
2. I heard you have to "clean" your drivers first? I have also heard you dont? I have heard a lot of things, like first cleaning with SafeMode or something? Can someone clear this up?

Thnx for the help guys, I think I have posted something along these lines before, so sorry for that, but I didnt get a real clear answer if I remember.

Thnx for your help, its really appreciated

the catylist keeps the driver updated. It sounds like my compter does when i meed a windows makeover (repair/reformat)

Yes you'd be using Catalysts; you can get the latest version from here

If you'rre going from windows drivers to catalyst or between catalyst versions you dont really have to worry about this; now if you go between AT and nvidia then yeah thats prolly reccomended

You can check your version of Catalyst by doing the following
1. Start --> Run
2. Type dxdiag
3. Goto the tab labeled Display
4. It will be listed in the top right under "version"
