Upgrading HTPC - Is it worth it?

Hey all,

I've been running into some problems lately with large file sizes (Better quality audio and video) on my current HTPC. Slow playback, etc. Just seems like the machine is struggling, specs will tell you why lol.

Current setup:
Old AMD x2 3800+ Dual Core
2GB RAM
Fanless Nvidea card - 210 I think

Thinking of getting the following, assuming it will resolve my playback issues..

AMD A4-6300 and inexpensive motherboard
8GB memory

There isn't any way this could be a bottleneck from the hard drive right? It has fairly new SATA2 2 and 3TB drives.

Any thoughts/suggestions are appreciated!

Seems okay, but APUs rely on higher speed memory. So this may be better

Just for HTPC use I wouldn't worry about RAM speed. It's only a factor if you're planning on gaming.

But ddr3 2133 is only $5 more, worth the extra.
