well im building my girlfriend a computer (pink) lol...

i have the case coming tomorrow but i have no other parts for it so im thinking of giving her my q6600 and asus p5k pro drop in my spare 7950gt graphics card purchase a new 500gig sata and 4gig of xms2 ram...

well that leaves me without my computer so the thinking is--

asus rampage extreme intel x48 ddr2 mobo ------£187
intel q9550 yorkfield 2.83ghz 12mb cache --£217

do you think this would be a wise decision?

or just go for---\/

intel q6600 -------------------£100
gigabyte ga-x48-dq6----------£187
gainward 4850 (crossfire)------£115

any sugestions are welcome-my girlfriend is going to be getting me the antec1200 case so space is not the problem :)

i have just purchased a new 4850 1 month ago so im not going to buy a 4870!!!

its either the 1st 2 choices without a card or the last 2 with another 4850

Well, then don't ask and you decide...LOL

Brain dead question..if you arent gonna buy a 4870 and you already got a 4850.......LOL

did you not understand the post?

i wanted people opinion on what of the following 2 to get, i should have mentioned that i already have a 4850 but i pursumed that people would have known that i already have one as its in my sig and you need 2 to make it crossfire!

"asus rampage extreme intel x48 ddr2 mobo ------£187
intel q9550 yorkfield 2.83ghz 12mb cache --£217"

"intel q6600 -------------------£100
gigabyte ga-x48-dq6----------£187
gainward 4850 (crossfire)------£115"

they come to roughly the same price so would it be worth sticking with the q6600 but upgrade mobo and get another 4850 or go all out on the rampage and the q9550 sticking with the single 4850?

Go with the second choice. Much more strength. And plus, your still getting an x48 board no matter what choice =P AND the Q6600 is a pretty powerful quad-processor. Oh and, 2 4850's would support 2 monitors better than 1 4870 so yea...

yeh man-! thats what i want to hear!!!

i would have kept the p5k pro but on the second pci slot it doesnt run x16 i think the second runs at x8 so i need to upgrade board for full x16

I understand fine, just seems to me like you already knew what you were gonna do based on what you already have.

Did you just want to be validated by someone?

I answered your question in my first post. I told you my choice and you didn't agree with it. Not that I care but don't ask me if I didnt understand you--when I answered your question AND gave a recommendation.

..

no i wanted to know the best choice of the 2-!

its when you say "Brain dead question".. how is it brain dead?

i wanted to know what would be better-stick with 1 4850 and get better cpu/board or get q660/board and another 4850-

i am sorry if i come accross harsh but hey im braindead lol

as for what do do i still dont know! ill will take advice on any cpu and board combo but i like the 4850 big time ;)

Okay..fair enough. I didnt need to say it was 'brain dead'..

..I would go with your first choice..

You got 1 4850 already...let that carry you through and down the road grab a second 4850 or perhaps you find something else that makes sense to say...okay time to sell 4850 and get a single..****** or 2 ******....

thats my 2 cents

I like the mobo and cpu choices in #1 , hands down better than 2nd option.

cheers-i am still on the fence lol as ive had two reply and they both are different choices!!

yeh i do like the 1st one! my girlfriend will kill me if she sees how much money im putting into this lol!!!1
