Upgrading motherboard questions

I recently bought this laptop from eBay, with the intention of using it for gaming, as well as for uni work, however before I made the purchase I was unaware of how (apparently absolutely terrible) the graphics card is. I did a bit of research today but I can't seem to understand the necessary steps I need to take in order to be able to play games requiring higher graphics card specs. From what I could tell from looking online, please correct me if I'm wrong, my graphics card is soldered on, and therefore un upgrade able. Guides are telling me the only way to upgrade is by replacing the motherboard, so I have a few questions.
The laptop is a quad core i7 with what I think is a good cpu? Will I lose these features? Will it be expensive? What parts will be replaced if I get a top end motherboard? Any necessary upgrades if I was to get a new motherboard? And also how can I upgrade ram from 8-16gb?
Sorry for all the new questions, looking to get an idea about things before I take on a custom build Desktop.
Thanks heaps in advance.

This is the laptop I bought.

Its not that simple. You'll need to actually buy a gaming laptop. Just sell that one and buy new.
