Upgrading my CPU for gaming

Hi ppz,

I've been running the below system since 07/2018 and my computer seems really slow as of late, I've checked updates and drivers they all seem to be up to date, but its starting to struggle to run games now or not run them at all,

If you were going to upgrade the below system what would you replace and what would you replace it with, or would you try any other trouble shooting methods to improve performance,

thanks for taking the time to read my post any input would be appreciated,

All the best,

Liam

If it cannot run games you have bigger issues. Fastest repair is a fresh install of Windows after saving your files and settings etc. There is nothing about your machine that should stop any game from running.

Need to be more specific on what issues you're experiencing. Computers don't "wear out" really and stop being able to do things they once could. You can have certain components fail from wear but there's no just general "getting old" to it like you're inferring. You could simply need to dust it out and it's overheating. Have you ever done that in the 4 years you've owned it?

Clean install always a good idea.

Thanks for the reply

Do you recommend any guides to carry out a fresh install after saving my files and settings, not sure how to do that,

Thanks again.

It cuts out when playing Warhammer total war 3 or Banner Lords 2 - lags a lot and doesn't respond as quickly as it used to i.e. takes 5 minutes to load up windows from when i turn it on, it used to fire up in 10-20 seconds.

How do i go about dusting it out? Do i have to earth any components from static? What appliances should i use? Compressed air?

Is there any way i can check my components for failure?

i will research all of the above of course but if you could shed any light on the matter that would be great,

Thanks again.

Are you booting to the SSD? If so, then it should only take a few seconds to boot to windows. If you are booting to an HDD and windows gets corrupted then it could take 5 minutes to fully boot. I would start by doing a malware scan with Malwarebytes and disable any unneeded startup programs using the startup tab in Task Manager. Check the cpu fan to make sure its not clogged with dust bunnies and use a can of compressed air to blow it out.

I've got Malwarebytes i had 18 types of malware that's been quarantined, going to get the compressed air tomorrow, took the side of my cpu off and its dusty as F***!!

Thanks again

What drive is labeled as C drive in Disk Management? You can post a screenshot of it.

That would be a regular hard drive not an SSD. So that is the only local disk seen? Where is the 250gb 960 evo?
