upgrading processor

usually i run Wow, windows media player, and shuffle through large folders simultaneously. while doing so i get big slow-downs and constantly have to wait a second or two to continue. atm im running a 3500+ and would be upgrading to a 3800 x2. i assume doing so would fix my problem completely, but i just wanted to make sure?

The 4200+ would be an improvement over the 3800+ for gaming there. Currently I'm still deciding on the FX-60 or Opteron 185 for multitasking over gaming. Even an OEM on the cpu would be good here due to having a Zalman CNPS 9500 cpu cooler sitting on top of the 3500+ at the present moment.
