upgrading ram

hey im looking to upgrade my ram (not overly computer confident) i have a HP pavillion m8085a with 1GB DDR2 standard ram i would like to upgrade to 2 or 3 GB's im wondering is all ram the same or do i need a specific type an if so wat do u recommend thanks heaps

There are different kinds of ram but DDR2 is now by far the most common (and cheapest), so you won't have any troubles finding the right memory for you. Speed doesn't really matter that much, so you'll be fine as long as its DDR2.

Corsair, G-Skill, Kingston...all quality brands. I've also heard that Geill makes some good memory.
