Upgrading several things. Some questions.

So I received some new parts in the post from my dad to help me upgrade my x58 rig and keep it alive ( splashing out on a new system is not feesable right now new baby coming soon )

He's sent me another 6gb of ddr3 bringing my total to 12. An SSD 128gb in size which I plan to just have the os on and a couple games. The rest of my stuff can sit in my 1tb Hdd. And a brand new copy of windows 10. I'm on 7 at the moment.

What is the best way to go about completing my upgrade as in the order. The rams the exact same as mine so I'm just going to slot that in no Probs and test it. But I want win 10 on the sSD and not the Hdd so should I wipe my Hdd altogether and then install the sSD into my machine. And then install the windows 10 disc? I've got things I want to keep on my original Hdd like programs and games and pictures of my children etc. Is there a way to just wipe windows 7 and keep all my stuff ready for windows 10 to run it all again from the new ssd?

Thanks.

You can install 10 on the SSD using your windows 7 key but all programs would have to be reinstalled.

actually if you have programs installed on the hard drive, all you would have to do (given it's programs like firefox) is put a shortcut from the exe file to your desktop and should be usable. The upgrade from windows 7 to 10 doesn't require a reformat so the transition should be pretty smooth.
