Upgrading to Windows 7

I am not at all techy person so bare with me. This weekend i am planning to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista on my Dell Inspiron 1720 and I'm just after a few tips on the best way to do it and what precautions to take.

My plan is to download all the drivers from the dell website for my laptop onto an external hard drive, but will i need them all and will they be compatible?

Also i will obviously transferring any files and music that i want to keep too.

What else if anything do i need to do?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you've got everything covered.

After you install Windows 7, let your computer run for about 30 minutes unattended.

Make sure your Ethernet is hooked up.

Every time I've ever installed Windows 7, I've never needed to install a single driver.

If you try to install drivers immediately, they might conflict with the ones Win 7 is trying to download and install.

I'm not saying don't install any drivers, I'm just saying, let Windows 7 work for a bit first. :good:
