Upping Voltages

hey everyone,

I am overclocking my little Pentium 4 2.4Ghz.
I got it to 2.7Ghz but any further and it doesn't boot properly.
does this mean that i need to up my voltages at all?
And if i do, how do i on an Asus P4S800-MX SE board? I can find the Voltages part, but i have an option of either stock or "ignore" and i have no idea what "ignore" is supposed to mean.
Temps are not a problem, barely makes it past 50 degrees when at 100%

cheers and thanks in advance

Well, before you change voltages...did you make sure you underclock your ram? When you overclock the cpu you also overclock the RAM. Typically ram becomes unstable much sooner than a CPU on stock voltages. So, you have to underclock the ram and when you increase the front side bus it will bring the ram back up to where it's suppose to be.

oh ok thanks

i have read about doing that, however i could not find that option in the bios, so i gave up.
but i will have another try as i didn't realise it was that important

thanks for the advice!

Lots of times the ram timing will be set to auto, and then by setting it to manual it opens up a new menu to change the speeds.

thanks!

i just went into the bios and i changed ram frquency from auto to 266MHz (the lowest option so i guess it must be stock clock)
and with that setting i managed to get another 100MHz overclock! :)

but for some reason my temps are weird...
when i was at 2.69 Ghz my temps under load were high 40's low 50's, but now they are real low 30's as in barely goinng above 31

why is that? i like it but why?
