I tryied to change my heatsink today but it was to big for my case. Then when i put my stock one back the computer would say my cpu was at 90C then it lowers to around 70C (i uses CoreTemp). my computer keeps turning off when i trie to use it even in bios.

Everything is brand new off newegg and was bought only 3 days ago

Specs: ASUS 780i P5N-t Deluxe
E8400(Never Overclocked)
Stock Heatsink

PLZ HELP

Did you seat it correctly on the mother board?

And did you put that thermal compound on the CPU?

What case and aftermarket heatsink are you trying to use?

when ever you take off heat sinks you need to clean the thermal paste off cpu and HS and reapply new THIN layer. Be sure the HS is sitting on the cpu before clamping down
