Hi Guys,

I've been recommended to buy the following motherboard/memory combo. But I need to make sure that this DDR RAM will work on a DDR2 motherboard:

Mobo:

Memory

Would appreciate a quick answer if you can please! Don't want them to ship something that won't work as it'll be a pain to return and refund.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Gogogo!!

Yep. I am pretty sure (95%) that ANY DDR RAM will work in a DDR2 Mobo. But you are paying WAY too much for that RAM. I got a gig of XMS for 90 Euros.

Cool - I know this sounds *really* cheeky but is anyone sort of 100% sure?

I only ask because I was just reading an article that stated that DDR2 slots/DDR memory and vice-versa are absolutely not compatible because of the numbers of pins (184/200) and the voltage.

Sorry I hope you don't think I'm being rude but I really don't want to take any risk of frying several hundred pounds worth of kit!

I believe it is, but again, not 100% sure.

off the topic - And chef, i thought you said that nVidia sucks? cause in your sig it says soon to get 2x 7800GTX

Thank you both for your help. I've decided to be over-cautious and remove it from the order for now and will try to find out for sure tomorrow. I appreciate your quick replies.

(Plus I suppose I should shop around more for better prices!)

yeah, I just have faith in ATI. I just am waiting for Asus or MSI to start mass producing a mobo that supports crossfire and is a good overall mobo. I can put a 7800GTX in my media center when I'm done with it (see http://www.computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=26278), and I can put the other in my underpowered son's PC (see http://www.computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=25641). So I will keep my card now and get another for my new PC, and use the 7800GTXs for other PCs. I am so brilliant!
