hello....I have a 2 desktop computers. One of the computers had a virus or something but i still needed all the information from the hard drive of that computer. So I took the hard drive out and attatched it to another computer but the other computer is not reading the hard drive. How do i do this so the computer can read the hard drive? is it something with the jumpers?

ok,
a) what type of dirves
b) What was wrong with the old drive
c) How have you set up the drivers
d) If jumpers are involved (which means (a) is ide) what have you set them too
e) What os are you running

we need much more info first, jumoer setting can have an effect

it is a 20gb hard dirve i am trying to get information out of. The old computer would go to a screen where there is a cursor blinking. Im not sure how i set up the drivers. I just kept the jumpers on the drives how they came. I am running windows xp.

ok so i got the hard drive in the other comp but when i try to open it, it says that it is not formatted and if i would like to format it? Then it tells me all data on the drive will be erased. Is there any way to save the data before reformatting?
