I use a desktop all day 5 days a week, i will be more mobile next year and plan to get a laptop, I will want to use the laptop all day most days - are laptops up to the job?? or are they only for the occational hour here & there??

Is there any particular make that are more up to constant use??

Cheers in advance

i have 3 laptops. one is a server runes 24/7 the other i take to school with me. and the other is my home computer.... So yes you can. i use my home computer 24/7 minus school so it is up to the job. Unless you are going to use the battery. the battery will last from 3-6 hr depending on the type of battery

Thanx Brian

the laptop will be plugged in so not much battery use, was a bit worried that they would over heat or something

No, as long as there is space between the bottom of it and what ever its sitting on, it should stay relatively cool. Some laptops do get hot though.

yeah. all to keep in mind is to blow the vent out every few months with compressed air to keep it clear. But if you have it on your bed or some cloth just put like a book or peace of plastic to keep it off the bed

To combat heat from long usage buy a laptop cooler. Targus makes nice ones as well as other companies. Check out newegg for good deals on them.

Realistically you will get about 3 hours of time on the batter of your laptop. Unless you disconnect the WiFi, and only do like word processing then you could maybe get about 6 hours of usage.

I use my laptop as my main work machine because I have to be mobile and travel between buildings. So, yeah a laptop can be great. Are you worried about anything specific?
