I just found out that my Compaq Presario 2100 (about 4 yrs old) laptop has 2 (stacked; one on top of the other) USB 1.1 controllers (ports?) in the back. Is it possible to remove them from the motherboard and install a stack of USB 2.0 controllers (ports?), instead of using an upgrade kit PCMCIA slot? Thanks.

Nope. The controller (and ports) are integrated, and if you try to remove them you'll probably end up wrecking your machine... if you really need hi-speed USB you'll probably have to get a PCMCIA USB2.0 card.

What does the poll have to do with your question regarding USB ports anyways?

(BTW, it's Vista, not Vist)

Nothing, but I accidentally hit the "create poll" button and did not see an easily located way to cancel it, so I figured I'd see what people have to say.

BTW: I know it's VISTA (not VIST...this is clearly a typo), but I did not see a way to edit the poll. Did you actually have something of value to say regarding my original post, or are you just interested in pointing out spelling errors, and errors that new member make?
