I just built a computer from scratch, installed windows and did all the necessary updates. I then installed the service packs 1,2 and 3. But now whenever I try to install the drivers for my USB 2.0 port it keep telling me that i need service pack 2 in order to continue with installation. I dont understand since I already have service pack 3 i have to have service pack 2. I tried contacting the Mobo manufacturer but havent received a response. Does anybody know how to resolve this issue without reinstalling windows?

My first guess would be that it's looking for Service Pack 2. Since Service Pack 3 isn't Service Pack 2, there's a problem :P

Where did you get your drivers? If they're from a CD, check to see if there are any newer ones from the manufacturer's website. Or, seeing as it's primarily chipset related, perhaps you could find other drivers that'd work. You also may care to check they're even required. Many new computers today can work at USB 2.0 speeds without additional drivers.

I have already tried getting the updated drivers from manufacturer's website and still getting same response. The only thing I use my usb port for is my ipod and it need 2.0 drivers to recognize the device. I've just decided that I am going to reinstall windows but this time im not going to install SP3. Thanks for your help.

How about you uninstall service pack 3,then see if it works with service pack 2.:)
Let us know.
