USB 2.0 Issues....??

Hey all, I have an older HP Pavilion laptop, a ZE4805, if that helps matters. I purchased and installed a PC card USB 2.0 convertor, and installed it and the associated drivers taht XP told me that it needed in order to work.

The issue is, if I connect my external USB HD, the hard drive responds and works fine. If I connect my iPod, it will go through the motions of installing the hardware, and as soon as the bubble in the corner pops up that says Found New Hardware:Disk Drive, the system displays a BSOD then reboots too quickly for me to read what the screen says.

What would cause this issue, and how would I fix it?

Thanks!

Possibly some sort of power issue... Does your external HD also draw power from your computer? Or does it have external power?

Have you loaded your ipod drivers before connecting it(sometimes helps...) Or reloaded your USB drivers?

This probably wouldn't do anything, but have you tried disabling your other USB ports?

No, the external HD has its own power source.

How would I load the ipod drivers before connecting it? Sounds like a good idea, but I wouldn't know how to go about it.

I'm pretty sure the USB ports that came on the laptop don't work, but its worth a shot.

Thanks for teh suggestions!
