USB 2.0 read as 1.0

Hi I have a Dell Dimensions 8300 desk top computer and it came with USB 2.0 ports, about 10 of them. Now all the sudden whenever I plug in a hard drive or any USB device it says that the device im plugging in is USB 2 but my computer is USB 1.

Anyone know why this might be happening or how to fix it?

Probably the drivers for the USB controller either got uninstalled or corrupted. Go into your hardware manager and see if there's a exclamation warning next to the USB controller. If that's the case, you'll have to see what you can do about getting the drivers from Dell (it's linked to the motherboard, and they have theirs custom made).
 
Download the Everest program and search from where you can to download your usb drivers,
install them and its have to work.
