Usb 3.0/2.0

If USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0, why do motherboard manufactures put USB 2.0 with USB 3.0 on there motherboards? Shouldn't they get rid of the USB 2.0, and just use USB 3.0? Maybe I'm missing something.

You are missing the most important part. Drivers. When installing an OS, including windows, you have no access to USB3 ports until you install the drivers for it. This basically means that, at least for now, you would have no USB to use for Install flashkeys, Mouses, Keyboards, or floppy drives until you installed drivers, which can't be done without a keyboard (its possible without a mouse, floppy drive and flashkey).

That aside, 1 USB3 is enough for the average person. Hard drives and flashkeys are really all that will take advantage of teh extra speed (maybe video transfer and SD card readers).

I've seen some z77 MoBo's that don't carry USB 2.0, only 3.0. So how would someone go about that?

depends on the board. My boards legacy support is only on the 2.0 ports. The extreme 4 did nothing even with legacy enabled until drivers were installed.

Either way, 1 is still enough 3.0 ports.

No matter what OS I install, I need to install the USB3.0 driver with my motherboard before those ports work.

no. You need at least 3 USB 2.0 ports. 1 each for mouse and keyboard, and one for printer. Above that, they are just extras.

If USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 devises, why would some need a USB 2.0 port for printer, when USB 3.0 will work? You don't need a printer to install an OS.

USB 1.1 would work for mouse, keyboard, and printer. It is retarded to lock up a 3.0 port for it.

Your going about it all wrong though. USB3 is for high throughput devices. Things like HDDs and flashkeys. Having many of them is pointless. Really, if you have eSATA III, then it is useless to have USB3 also. Much as USB 2 is useless with eSATA I/II and Firewire.
