usb card reader

I bought a foxcon usb card reader. It works, but everything loads very slowly. When it is loading, I can't open another "my computer". it takes about five minutes for it to load, and after that, everything works normal. Any suggestions on why it would go so slow? I have the old version of usb, and i'm reading a secure digital card. When i have my camera read the card, it goes pretty fast.
 
I have no clue what that card reader supports, but it could be mostly USB2.0 compatable. I remember trying something similar on my older computer and it took forever to do anything, but it worked fine on my USB2.0 laptop. Oddly enough, I don't think it was even USB2.0

I guess drivers could also cause problems. Both USB and anything installed for that device.
