When windows starts... it turns off the USB ports as soon as it loads windows.
when i go to the device manager, i see 1 usb controller with the yellow i con next to it.. but when i uninstal it, check for hardware changes.. it install's, and works fine. its just on each new start of the pc its disabled :(
the biggest problem is... my mouse and keyboard are USB.. so I have a 2nd mouse over here atm to instal the USB controller.
But.. can anyone help me on this one? I really dont know what i could do about it.

stupid question... what is the event viewer, and where do i find it? :x
As for the devices,.. my keyboard, my mouse (well, trackball) and the Creative IR remote reciever that came with my soundcard. ( but it does the same when i remove it)

edit: the funny thing is tough.. i can use the USB keyboard in the bios and all,.. it also recognizes the Keyboard, mouse and hub (build into the keyboard) in the bios.. to its really just windows messing around :(

Your BIOS will control your onboard USB controller before windows boots and takes over, that is normal behavior.

To access the event viewer (there is more than one way) click Start > Right click My computer > Manage > Event Viewer > System Log

Any errors relating to USB?

you can also access it via control panles > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > event viewer

Oh my... there is a load of errors in there.. ( but i cant find any related to usb.. ) well,.. ive been messing around, looking if i could find something.. so i'll reboot the pc, and see what error's are there then. (I assume thats what you mean? )

some errors are normal, like DHCP release/renew errors, and windows defender keeps calling my VNC connection spyware, even though its something I installed myself LOL

Make sure your USB is in working manner, then reboot the system, if the errors persist something in event viewer may pop up. However, windows error logs lack a lot of good info.

ok, i rebooted,.. the yellow icon was there again,.. the error from the device manager
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

and i only found 2 error's of the time of this reboot.

and here is the error message (both are ideantical)
The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{555F3418-D99E-4E51-800A-6E89CFD8B1D7}
to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

do you have a usb card reader installed?

the CLSID error has to do with UUIDs, and the class ID is a reg key that is trying to connect with some local service. UUIDs are specific indentifers on hardware. Similar to a MAC address on a NIC. CLSID is just another name for it.

Have you recently installed any kind of new usb controller or ran any updates for drivers/firmware? It looks like you have an onboard and a PCI USB controller...Does the problem persist when you yank the PCI USB card out? Or have you recenlty added any new USB devices?

Perhaps you have a bonofied GUID conflict, which technically isn't suppose to happen.

It's odd that it's not working by default but open Component Services (Control Panel->Administrative Tools). Expand the Component Services section, expand computers, right click on My Computer and pick properties. Go to the com security tab and click 'edit default' in the launch and activation premissions section. Check that system and interactive have both locals checked and Administrators have everythign checked.

If that doesn't work add user NT AUTHORITY and grant it Local Activation and Local Launch.

Do you have a desktop icon for the mouse? You did have to restart the system when first installing it didn't you? The problem there is with the keyboard/mouse drivers themselves. You will have to first uninstall those and the software and reboot to reinstall those. I've seen the same thing with MS optical mice enough times. This has nothing to do with permissions. You simply knocked the drivers out.

now that you mention it.. i have a Card Reader in the front panel (a cable comes out the back, and is plugged into an USB port

I only use the Onboard USB,.. altough, the motherboard has some 10 pin connections to ass USB ports from there,. i hava that same front panel connected to one of those ports for 2 front side USB ports

If you had the two usb ports in the front wired to the second block of pins that has been known to see problems with the additional ports there. But usually effects the devices connected in the front since those are addons. Between 98 and XP on the old case the MS tracball model here would see a few problems when the driver got knocked out. An uninstall, system restart, fresh install followed by another restart of the system saw that corrected.

well.. when i uninstal the USB controller, scan for new hardware,.. Windows finds it, install it, and sees all the hardware connected to it and install's that too..
its just the initialisation it seems,.. and it does that on every system boot up now. (started happening after i installed daemon tools.. but after i did remove it again. the problem is still there. )
oh, and it still does the same without the Cardreader connected :(

I just solved it =)
I disabled something called, USB legacy (there were some options fo Hi-speed usb or so, that disapeared when i disabled that function ) Its still usb2.. so i have no idea what its for (thats why i tried booting up with it disabled) and it actually worked =D
honestly... i have NO idea what i just disabled.. but it works now, so im haaapppyyyyy ^_^
but.. anyone of you ever heard of some USb legacy controller? because it would be cool if i know what i just disabled i gues =]

I just woke up....

USB legacy is support for older USB devices. Like older 1.0 and 1.1 devices.

Sounds to me like some sort of driver conflict, windows can be finiky with non digital assigned drivers.

Something I would have never guess unless I had taken a physical look at your machine probably.

Also, if you install D-Tools, make sure you do not install their adware with it. You have the choice to not install their search bar. Otherwise its a good program for emulating an optical drive.
