USB external drive trouble

I have a Seagate that told me it couldn't be read anymore (I don't know much about this stuff) because of some sort of corruption.

I put it away and waited until I was ready to try some of this software.

Now I have downloaded the demo, and even though my PC says the USB storage device is ready to use, it does not appear in my Windows Explorer disk window, and when I turn on the EASEUS software it does not see the USB external drive either.

Can't recover files until I can SEE the darn thing in the program window, and that's been my problem all along!

So what do I do? Windows Vista says its there as USB device but nothing more.

I'll buy this software if it works, but so far, zippo.

Take the hard drive out the caddy and put it into your PC as a slave drive, then try to fix/recover it like that.
