USB Port Failure

Ok, so I got this dell GX270 which I am using now a couple of days ago, and I keep trying to plug things in to the forward usb ports, I checked the power, hookup, and it all seemed right, but still when I plug something in, it doesn't work, no error message, just nothing it's like the usb ports aren't even there, can someone help me?

Check to make sure that the usb wire coming from the case is hooked up to the motherboard on the usb header.

Usually the header is keyed to prevent that, if it went the wrong way it would very likely fry any device that is plugged in.

I don't get why this is happening. My boss said that Mercury is retrograde & that can cause technological malfunctions.. I am starting to believe her.
