USB port not responding

Hi,

I have some problems with my usb ports. I have tried 3 different USB sticks in the 4 different USB ports that I have and each time a small icon pops up in the bottom right hand of the screen which says that I can now `safetly remove the hardwear`. I have no idea why I cannot see the files, however I can print anything from the computer using the same USB port.

If you have any ideas you will be a lifesaver.

Thanks

So your saying you don't have an icon in "my computer" for the usb device? It's possible that you just may have to assign a drive letter to it, go into disk management to see whats there. Right click on "my computer" icon and click on manage, then click on disk management on left.

hello all,
Yes, this sounds strange as that is the message you should see when you double click to remove the device. My issue is a bit different, I plug it in to a USB 2 port and it tells me it is not in a usb 2 port and do I want to change it?

I have unplugged it from the computer several times to try and reset its memory or whatever, but it still does it. I long to get a newer case and hardware to get rid of annoying issues like this one.
