Hi I really need some help. This morning i used the Recovery Console on my NEC Versa to re-install windows with the non destructive recovery option (Keeps all your personal Files) All went fine until i tried to use a usb device on my laptop and it provided power to the device but it doesn't show up in windows. I Have also tested all my other devices (mp3 player, my 3 flash Drives, Phone and printer) The USB Worked fine before the OS was reinstalled (Win XP Home) But now it doesn't pick any thing up at all. I really need help!! Thanks Alot

Was that simply the manual method for a system restore not an "install to repair" method like what is outlined at http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm ? For some reason the drivers for the usb controllers got knocked out I'm assuming here. One first simple method would be to right click on the MyComputer icon go to the properties link at the bottom for system properties and open the hardware tab when the next screen opens. Just below the top section the first button there will be for the Device Manager where you would then go to the bottom of the next screen to open the Universal Serial Buses section and look for any yellow marked items after clicking on the "+" sign on the left side of the column. By right clicking on anything found marked you would then choose the update driver option to have Windows search for the correct driver(s). XP will then extract from it's recovery cab files or request the installation cd which would be the recovery disk that came with the unit. Apparently the dirvers were made inactive where you now have to refresh them.
