USB Sharing on a wireless router

I have a Netgear TL-WR1043ND Wireless Router, the maximum USB hard drive I can attach is limited to 2TB. I have a 5TB USB hard drive. When I check the specifications for other newer wireless routers they only list how many USB ports it has and whether it's 2.0 or 3.0. They don't list the maximum size of hard drive it can recognize. Any help would be appreciated.

Most newer routers don’t really have any limitations on hard drive size that they can share. Worst case, you may have to split it into two partitions.

If they can support GPT instead of only just MBR then you should be able to >2TB. Most routers are based on Linux which has had kernel support for gpt for a while.

Keep in mind that the router transfer rate to external storage via usb is generally horrendous
