USB token and smart cards

Can someone help with USB token and smart cards.

Im looking to use a USB for locking and encrypting info on my computer.

Ive been trying to find good info on USB tokens and smart cards, but im lost right now.

I want to completely lock the computer, so it cant be used unless the USB is plugged in. Im not sure where to start.

Also looking for a network security pass too.

Any help appreciated. Thanks
 
There might be other ways to accomplish what you wish to achieve such as BIOS locks and encryption...

What is your actual purpose?
 
Just at college and have a few roomates and I came home the one day and my one roomate was using my computer.... I want to lock the computer to where u need the usb token to have it run - Is that possible?
 
And something for network security.. so no one can get my info when shopping online and just to be safe

You didn't enable password to protect your computer? if you use windows xp or later you can just set the password so no one can access the computer unless they take out the hard drive and put it to a different computer.
