USB troubles

Hey guys

Im having problems with my USB setup. Im using an Asus A7N-E motherboard, and a cnet 7-port usb2 hub. The problem is that when I connect a USB device to the hub WinXP tells me that the device could benefit from a high speed USB interface instead and points out that I should connect it to a hub highlighted with bold text in the hub list.
Does anyone know why this is? I have all the service packs installed, and the sys manager says I have the enhanced USB controller installed as well.
Help would be most welcome since Idlike to get some real value from my newly bought external USB harddrive

I believe that means your motherboard does not have usb 2.0. If you have an external hub that is usb 2.0, it won't speed up your usb since your computer can only handle usb 1.1.

you might want to try installing the drivers for the mobo instead of using the MS drivers, if you are indeed using them. . .

The extremely frustrating thing is that Asus didnt ship any USB2 drivers with the motherboard. Instead there is a .txt file saying something like "if you are using WinXP sp1 or higher you do not need any drivers" :( :( :(

Thanks mate, going to try it when the server is not too busy. In the meantime its saffron rolls and spiced wine time (swedish xmas tradition starting about 1 month ahead of christmas) :D
