USB2 help

Hi all
I have a motherboard (GA-7Zxe (rev.1.01))
on this is a USB2 port; this consists of 10 pins (pins 4 & 7 are NC)

I have a card reader with a USB2 block connector, however the block has
port 2 or 9 (dependent on view) blanked off (IE no hole) and no wires going into those 2 ports anyway.

Question
can I get something that will connect these two USB2 parts?

I guess picture will be better than my garbled description

The usb connection on the motherboard is wrong and I'm not sure why. You need the configuration as shown by your card reader cable.

how can it be wrong?
and even if it is, what can I do to make the card reader work?

I don't know, all the usb connections I've seen match up to the pin configuration of the external drive.

You most likely will have to get something like this to connect the drive to.
