Use ISO images without DVDs

Yo
i'm downloading a large ISO file, and was wondering if there was a program that would allow me to open the ISO file (i;m not sure is winzip / win rar wil let me) or if there was any program that would let me 'burn' the files to a folder / something that isn't a DVD (i don't have a DVD burner on my pc)(not sure if this is possible cos im geussing that it's not the same thing)

so basicly what im asking is:
is there anyway of opening iso images without burning them? / if not, is there any program that will allow me to 'burn' them to a location on my pc?

+ just to be awkward - it's an operating system, so, would it be possible to install it off my USB Ipod by configuring the BIOS? (or any other way) / splitting the ISO up and burning it onto CD's so that it will work normally? just with a gajillion or so discs).

sorry if none of it makes sense, and thanks for any help ;)

There are a few actually. WinRAR (available for free at download.com) can extract .ISO files to your hard drive. Power ISO (free trial at download.com) can also open .ISO files, in addition to many other image formats.
