Used 3.1 GB's in less than 45 minutes??

I have the program "Networx" installed to keep track of my daily internet usage. Something very odd just happened. In less than 30 minutes of the first hour(12 to 1am hour-7/3/2014)it said I used 3.17GB's.

I have not been streaming but was on Facebook for most of the hour. I find it impossible that in a 30 minute span anyone could use over 3GB of usage. Is this a case where the program simply made a mistake or is something strange going on here that I don't know about? Thanks!

I just checked for the 1-2am usage and it was 3.14mb. Something is not right.

Start windows in Safe Mode with Networking (Hit F8 before windows loads) and try monitoring your usage. You might have a program or service connecting to the internet.

If you have a torrent client with running torrents, that will also chew bandwidth.

Does "Networx" tell you upload & download usage separately?

Yes Networx tells you upload & download for every hour. Like I said the first hour(0:00-0:59) my DL volume was 3.13GB and my UL was 59.3MB for a total of 3.18GB. Every hour since then the DL & UL volume has been 3MB or less. So i'm glad the usage returned to normal after the first hour but very strange to use over 3GB's the first hour.

Actually it used 3GB's in the first 20 minutes. I checked to see who was on my wi-fi and as usual it was just my computer and my wifes laptop. Any ideas? Very strange. Thanks for your input!

This is installed on your PC right? If so, it won't tell you usage of your other devices.

Was this when your computer first booted up? If so, it was probably downloading updates and installing them in the background. Windows will do this automatically, and many third party programs run updates when you first turn on your computer as well.

I have it installed on our laptop and checked it and the usage was normal. Now all day today the usage was back to it's usual average. Thanks for the help.

As stated, likely automatic updates or patches.

3.1 GB in 45 minutes is only around a ~1.18 MB/sec transfer rate.

I would hope the application gave you additional details but it doesn't seem that fully featured.
