Used PC Games?

Now that I have finished my pc, I am looking for more games to play. But I know that when you install them you have to use your activation code. If it is a used game will the code still work? Also, a friend of mine wants to play mw2 on his laptop. I think it will work will all of the settings on low but I don't want him to spend the money on it and not be able to play. Is there a way that I can give him my copy just to see if it runs while not deleting my account?

Some games require just the key, and the disc in the drive when you start the game. Others require online activation. You have to check the DRM on each game before you buy it, then you will know. If you find anything with Steam, DO NOT buy it used, period. As for MW2, you have to check the DRM on that.

I heard that for steam if you close the account that the game is linked to you can use the product code for someone else.

thanks for the reply, that clears a lot up.

And some games don't even require a key, like Age of Empires II, or Metal Fatigue. Great games; a bit old, but still very playable and enjoyable.

You're better off just buying games off steam. Many stores, such as gamestop won't even accept used pc games because of the key. Steam offers great games for a cheap price (especially on a sale!), I would recommend just buying your own games off steam, than risk getting a used game from a different store.

Why are you bumping a 3.5 year old thread?
