Will it work if i use some one else's window xp reformat disk? He has an e-machine computer and i have a hp, does that make a difference on the reformat disk or something?

Reformat disks that come with systems have software and drivers just for the PC that it came with. I dont think it will work due to the fact that it installs drivers, which are made for a different PC

It would mess up, the eMachine's in my personal experience are Norton Ghost disks and are designed to work only on that model of PC because it has a set system image right down to the HDD.

You can use some one else's XP cd to reformat. How ever if you Install XP with their disk you will have to call microsoft to activate windows, but if you are only reformatting you can do it no problem. (Side note: Reformatting your Main partition deletes every thing off the partition including windows.)
