Using a dedicated PhysX card

might try watching some youtube videos on setting it up...

I did'nt think it was worth it personally..

physx in my opinion isnt worth buying a nvidia gpu for, but as you have a spare card lying around it cant hurt to try.

im guessing as it would need cracked drivers this place is not the place to ask.....

google is your friend

Yeah it's a card I bought for my old rig, but it doesn't get used much, so I thought why not try it.

And you'd need cracked drivers? Interesting.

Cant remember the version, but if you install a older Nvidia driver it wont disable physx if a ATI/AMD card is installed.

Try installing the 9800GT as your only card at first, with the latest nvidia driver suite. Then move it down a slot and install the 6870. Don't install catalyst though, just the drivers, and see if it works like that.

Okay yeah I'll give that a try. I didn't see anything in a quick google search about using cracked drivers.

Look for nvidia's 185 and earlier drivers, as they installed the deactivation thing in version 186 and later. I think a 9800gt might actually give worse performance, i'd use a gtx260 or something faster- but as long as you have it you might as well try it. I believe there is a guide at overclock.net for it.

Yeah I found a thread that basically said that. I'll give it a try and post back here if I get it working or not. Won't be for a few days though as my card is at home.

A 9800GT making PhysX worse? Isn't the 8800GT a real popular PhsyX card? I can't imagine it takes that much power to run it, let alone make it worse. I could be wrong seeing as how I've never done it myself, but still.
