Using a HDD caddy with 8.1

Just bought a new Packard Bell pc with 8.1.

I removed the main 1TB HDD from my old PC and put it in a caddy by Dynamode from PC World. I have window 7 installed on this along with all my other files.

When I plug it into my laptop with Win 7 this works fine. But when I plug it into my new PC it detects it for about 2 seconds then looses it for a few seconds. This will continue.

Any ideas??
 
Have you unchecked allow computer to turn off this device? If its powered from the USB port, it could be a power issue.
