Using a laptop as a repeater

I have an extra laptop around with wifi and i want to turn it into a repeater. I have an ethernet cable plugged into it at the moment. I know it is possible but i cant find any software for it. I have both linux and xp on this laptop.
 
ok this is easy, i know how in windows so that is how i will have it.
go into your network and link your eathernet to your wireless. go into your wireless properties and make it a ad-hoc network. set the id to what ever you want it called and then set a password if you want. I think that is it but let me try it
 
set the wired connection to act as a shared connection, and set the wireless to allow other PC's to access the internet through this connection.
 
Alright cool i got it working. Doesnt work as a repeater but it allows me to connect to it and use the internet
