Using a TV as monitor using HDMI, no sound?

I recently purchased a 32" Samsung TV and i am using it as a secondary monitor. My graphics card is the BFG 8800 GTS OC2 640MB and it only has DVI slots so I am using an adapter to convert one of the slots into HDMI. The computer speakers work fine but i want sound from the TV as well, without using another cable. When i go into sound options it does not detect the TV to allow me to enable the audio. Im using windows 7 if that matter :confused:
 
so because my video card does not have direct HDMI i can only use it for video? damnit.. :mad: thats what my cousin told me but i wanted to make sure
 
your gonna need to connect another cable as not only does dvi not carry sound the sound on your computer is not output from the video card but from the sound device which will be a separate socket on the mbo/soundcard
