Using a Usb Modem with a router

Hi, I need to split my connection using a router so that I can play xbox live. However, I have a usb modem. I have looked on ebay and found lots of routers that have ethernet and usb ports. However, is the usb port meant for output instead of input?

You will need to buy a modem with an Ethernet connection in order to connect it to a router for use with xbox live, as routers do not support USB modems due to need for lots of drivers, so one from ebay with both a USB and Ethernet connection will be fine, you just need to then plug it into the wan port of your router.
 
No, unfortunately, you would need to buy one with an ethernet (network) connection on that back thna as i said before, plug it into the wan port of your router
