i'm considering programming a gamepad for an upcomming MMO and was wondering if anyone succeeded in replacing the traditional WASD with a D-pad and the mouse with a joystick. i think it's possible with games like WoW and Guild Wars where the camera is positioned above and behind the character; using the left thumb to go fowards, backwards, strafe left and right while using the right joystick to turn left, right, camera up and down.
the Saitek P990 is cheap and programmable so i'll probably give it a try. if anyone has any experience doing this, advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
