The mobo i purchased (Asus M2N-sli Deluxe) only has one ide slot, for the two cd drives id like to connect up.......SOOO, instead of wasting the money on a sata hard drive because i cannot return my IDE hd, can i use a converter, such as a IDE/SATA to usb converter for my hd and run it off of the usb? if so, any plus/minuses with this setup?......Thanks

well the problem is i lost the case to return it to tiger direct, and im a cheap sob, so now granted it wont be as fast as a Sata drive, but would the ide drive connected thru a usb comparable to an ide drive hooked up in a pri ide drive?

You lose a lot of performance going to USB. You could get an IDE/SATA converter (not to USB).

well...if you have one dvd rom and one dvd-rw (for example)....would it be easier for you to just connect the "hdd" and "dvd-rw" to the mobo.....the comp still do the same job with one rom (i.e. read and burn cd/dvd)
