Using Laptop as Monitor for Gaming Device

Would it be possible to use my laptop as my monitor (TV basically) for a PS3 or Gamecube? My laptop is a HP dv9000t which is a multi-media laptop and it has support I think... One of you would have to confirm that for me. I have an HDMI plug on the side of the laptop and I'm wondering is that all I need to hook up the console to my computer? What about sound and how do I set my laptop to do this? Sorry for not having any knowledge with this, I've never done anything like it before. I am good with computers though so I'll understand probably any answers/help that you give me.
 
Actually, I just realized i can't do this so I don't need any answers regarding the topic.

However, now I have another question: Are all monitors these days (regular widescreeen LCD monitors) compatible with the VGA HD AV plug for the Xbox 360? I know they have the actual VGA port but the Audio part is what I'm wondering about.

You could buy a usb capture card, They come in pc card too. I have an external one that came with my toshiba laptop and it works great, just make sure it has hardware encoding instead of software. For example, the hauppauge usb2 capture card is software based, and it requires a lot of processing power and gives a low quality picture. I think hp sells a good one that plugs into the pc card slot for about $150.
