Using monitor as tv...

Hey guys,

I have an old TV that's starting to turn green! I've been thinking about purchasing a new 22" LCD monitor. I have a 17" LCD at the moment. I'm looking to soon get rid of the TV, and use my monitor, as my TV. What exactly would be required? Do I need a TV Tuner? I'm clueless when it comes to TV's :(.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks.

Yeah you would need a TV tuner card if you want TV on your computer, but if you don't want a computer then just get a digital set top box with VGA output and you have yourself a TV. :P That way you can have a stand alone digital tv on your monitor.

Will I need windows media center for the tv tuner?

No, most any tuner should work fine with most any OS. I know my WinTV PVR-150 "MCE" works just fine without Media Center.

Have you considered getting a monitor with a built in tuner? Having a tuner in your PC is nice so you can capture video and all, but it's another option to consider.

Awesome. My local pc store has one left in stock. One question, for part of the description, it says "125 channel cable ready TV tuner". What exactly does that mean? I have a cable box that has something like 200+ channels, will I be limited to 125?

The monitor I was thinking of getting was the 226bw by samsung, not sure if it comes with a tuner.
