Using Old Hard Drive

Hi,
I have bought a new computer, and I'm considering whether to copy the data from my old HD to my new one or just add the old HD to the new computer. My old HD is Western Digital WD 2000 200GB and is about 3 years old.
I've been told that adding the old HD to the new computer will slow it down, but I don't know if it's true. Should I add the old HD to my new computer or is it not recommended because it will slow it down?
Thank you.

It'll be fine, plug it in! If you're worried then put it in, copy everything you want across to the new drive, then take it out again.

Any used drive will be slower than the equivalent new disk, but as long as you're not running the O/S off it it'll be fine and shouldn't slow anything up much.
