Using resolution that my LCD TV monitor does no support

My LCD TV is 27" with max resolution of 1024x768 but is it ok to use 1280x960 or 1280x1024?

I tried both and they both display fine on the monitor, will it cause damage to my monitor in any way if I were to set the resolution so high?

thanks

AFAIK if the LCD can display the resolution then it will work, if your LCDs native resolution is 1024x768 then most likely when you set it higher, its just scaling the image to fit the screen effectively leaving you with 1024x768. Try 1024x768 and the higher resolution and see if you can read small text with the higher resolutions because if it IS scaling then most likely small text will be distorted.

Also, what is the brand and model of the LCD TV?

It is Olevia and I am not sure of the modal.

when I set it to 1280x1024 i can see all the windows find. like the words in the start.

It is just that the top of every word looks a tiny fuzzy and thats about it.

EDIT: I was playing with the resolution just now and when Iset it to 1280x768 all the texts looks great, It is not fuzzy anywhere.
