firstly, Hello everyone and thanks in advance.
second. my specs.
gigabyte 7n400 pro2, mobo
Barton 2800+ running at 2.1ghz no overclock
1gig kingston ddr ram
Evga 6800, vid card
200gig WD caviar HDD running on
Promise tech. Ultra100 tx2 ATA PCI card. (this is my problem)
Windows XP, SP2
1 note, I back my system up with restore points 2 times a week.
Now on to my problem.
I was using AnalogX's DLL Archive to try and remove certain DLL files that have bothered me for a year or so from a Roxio program. My child archived all of the DLL files but i went back and restored them successfully. so no problems yet.
a day later my video card drivers start having problems so I reinstall them sorta successfully. when I restart the vid card is fine but my computer goes into slow motion and my BIOS is telling me that my CPU temp is 80C but speed fan says everything is fine at 66C.
Now I clean my case out and my temps even out but my computer is now running in super slow motion. 5 minutes to boot and load windows, 30 seconds to bring up start menu, 2-3 minutes to open any folder/file/mycomputer. and I find my problem in device manager...
My scsi controller is listing shows that the Promise Ultra100 tx2 card is functioning properly but my SCSI/Raid host controller is not functioning properly and now my 3rd partition is listed but says it is not properly formatted. Disk Management shows that it is healthy at 100% free. basically I have 120 gigs showing up and working 'properly' but the 70gig E:\ is unavailable and of course this is my most valuable drive. If I lost either of the other 2 it would be fine, but this is the drive with my family photos and movies of my childs birth... so I really really want this drives information back.
When I tried to roll back to a restore point system restore shows that I have no point to restore to... when I should of had 2 from each of the past 3 weeks.
I've tried to update my Ultra100 drivers and that doesnt help, I've tried to update the drivers for the SCSI/Raid host controller but every time I do it says there was an error with the update unable to continue and it brings back up the hew hardware found menu.
please help or ask for more information, I'm going crazy cause my computer is crawling along and I cannot seem to solve the problem myself.
btw, I am sorta knowledgable but treat me like a rookie in this situation cause everything I've tried isn't working.
